2016: Year in Review

The new year is upon us and I love taking this time to reflect on the past year’s events. 2016 was a good one. I mean really good! From starting my career, to getting married, to traveling to lots of fun places, this year was one for the books. Today I want to share a few highlights from 2016 and truly thank all of you who follow Medicine & Manicures. Of course I love sharing my favorite outfit posts with you guys, but I also like to share some parts of my day-to-day life with y’all too. Blogging has become more and more fun each year and it amazes me how many awesome people I have met and how many things I have learned through this creative outlet. Now, let’s take a look back at 2016!

I PASSED MY BOARDS

One of the happiest days of my life was January 15th when I found out that I passed the PANCE (PA board exam). This was THE hardest test I have ever taken and it felt amazing to know I passed and wouldn’t have to take it again for 10 years. Oh and to top it off, I also received my first job offer that day. Unfortunately, I experienced a job loss after only 5 months of working but I have recently started another position at an urgent care and I love the variety that it brings.

MY BRIDAL SHOWER

One of the best pre-wedding memories had to be my bridal shower at the historic Duke Mansion. Being surrounded by the closest women in my life was so special and got me so excited for the wedding. My bridesmaids did an amazing job planning and the dress I wore may be one of my favorites ever!

VEGAS BACHELORETTE PARTY
My bachelorette party was a weekend I’ll never forget. From the hotel to the pool party to the shows and free limo rides, us girls had THE best time. There was honestly no other place I wanted to have my bachelorette party and I’m so thankful that I could share it with all of these girls. Vegas is such a cool place and I definitely want to go back with Ryan at some point and do some more exploring!

I GOT MARRIED!
On the beautiful day of May 7th I married my best friend and love of my life. It was truly the happiest day and not much compares to how I felt as I walked down the aisle to meet my groom. Ryan & I felt so much love from our friends and family and the day went off without a hitch. We ate and drank and danced the night away and our wedding day was everything I could have hoped for. HONEYMOONED IN ST. LUCIA

Our wedding was followed by the most amazing honeymoon in St. Lucia, which I still dream about. We stayed at two different resorts, Sugar Beach and Ladera and did lots of exploring as well. This is definitely the most beautiful Caribbean island that I have been to (so far) and it was the perfect place to spend our first week of marriage. TOWNHOUSE PROGRESS

After finding out the project was a little behind, Ryan & I were so excited when the foundation was poured at the site of our new townhouse. You can read my latest update here and I’ll be sharing another one very soon (we just got cabinets and countertops, yay!!).

THE BLOG SOCIETIES CONFERENCE
I attended my first blog conference in Charleston and it was such a fun experience! Not only did I get to visit one of my favorite cities and stay in an amazing hotel, but I got to meet lots of amazing bloggers and network with some of my favorite brands. Can’t wait to do it all again next year in a fun new city!


GIRLS WEEKEND IN MIAMI

Over Labor Day weekend, another bachelorette weekend brought me to Miami. This place was absolutely beautiful and I had so much fun with my girls. We stayed at a condo at The W South Beach and it was the perfect place for the seven of us. The water was beautiful and we ate so much amazing food, but I think the pink flower crowns stole the show!


FALL TRIP TO NYC

October is my favorite month of the year and this year Ryan & I took another trip to one of my favorite places, New York City. This time we took out the rowboats in Central Park, drank the world’s largest milkshake, and had tea at the Mandarin Oriental. I love our trips to the city!


BEST FRIEND’S WEDDING

One of my very best friends Logan tied the knot in late October and I was excited to be a part of her special day. She made such a beautiful bride and we all had the best time. I don’t have any weddings on the books for next year and it makes me pretty sad!

FIRST MARRIED CHRISTMAS

Ryan & I celebrated our first married Christmas and enjoyed lots of time with family and friends. Of course I had to document it by adding a very special ornament to our tree!

Phew, that was a lot right?! Told you it was a busy year but I wouldn’t have it any other way. 2016 may be hard to beat but I’m really looking forward to next year because we will finally get to move in to our new house!!! I can’t even express how excited I am to decorate and make it our own. We also have a fun trip coming up which I will be sharing with you guys soon!
