It’s Monday and we’re back to the grind (well, those of us
who aren’t lucky enough to have a 3-day weekend, that is). Another great
weekend in the books and it was just as busy as the last. It feels like I
haven’t got to be lazy in forever and my mission for this weekend is to just
lounge around and be lazy. We’ll see how that goes! I have lots of fun things
to talk about so let’s get to it!

After a long day in surgery on Friday, I headed home to Charlotte on the good ‘ol Amtrak train. This was my very first train experience and I was pretty pleased. Driving my car home would have been cheaper than my ticket, but I really needed those hours to catch up on schoolwork so it was well worth it. I had some weird vision in my head about trains and it was completely different (maybe I have Harry Potter to thank for that). It actually looks like a plane inside, but much roomier… and you can get away with having two seats to yourself, not too shabby! As soon as I got home, I got ready and Ryan & I went to see American Sniper. Highly recommend!! However, the ending was a little too abrupt for me… I thought it needed a little more explanation.
Saturday morning was spent with my lovely MOH and lots of pretty white dresses. This week, we headed to Ladies of Lineage and I have to say that I was much more impressed compared to Winnie Couture. I felt that the quality of the dresses was higher and they were actually more reasonably priced! And… I may have found the one y’all! I have appointments at a few more places (because this girl’s gotta be sure) but if I don’t find something that blows this one out of the water… I may have found my dress!
Saturday night we went out for some good eats for Charlotte Restaurant Week. We met my old roommate Whitney and her fiancé Chase at Fahrenheit. I’ve written about it a few times before, but it’s a cool rooftop restaurant with American cuisine and great city views. They just got engaged over Christmas so it was super exciting to catch up and talk about the craziness that is wedding planning. I’m so happy for them and cannot wait to see them tie the knot in October!
Sunday was a very special day as we got together and celebrated Katie’s bridal shower. It was held at Charlotte Country Club and could not have been more beautiful. It was so great to be with all of my best girlfriends and shower Katie with lots of amazing gifts for the home. It also got us super excited for her bachelorette party coming up in March. NOLA, here we come!!
The room was absolutely gorgeous!

I feel like this weekend flew by way too fast and it was so
hard to leave Ryan and head back to Raleigh. Today starts my third week of my
rotation, so I’m basically halfway done. Still no deliveries yet so let’s cross
our fingers for this week!

Sounds like a great weekend! Starting another week of rotations and getting nervous about my first EOR exam next week. Any advice for me?!? Xoxox

DG and I took the train to DC and I felt the same. I was thinking it was going to be a little more glamorous, but I didn't hate it. It was great that both of us were able to relax while traveling. 🙂 Katie is such a doll and you looked gorgeous! xo

OMG in love with Katie's dress! SO pretty!! Glad you had a great weekend girl! That view from Fahrenheit looks amazing. I wish we had better rooftop bars/restaurants here. Eek! I can't believe you might have found your dress, how amazing!!!

Looks like yall had an amazing weekend, the bridal shower looks so nice! We had a last minute switch up and ended up seeing The Theory of Everything. It was really good but also really sad and just very intense. American Sniper is still on my list! Have a great week love, I'm also back at work today… darn hospitals never close!

I love taking the train, it's so fun to relax instead of drive.
WEEEE, wedding dress shopping, so fun. One of my FAVORITE things of the planning process:)!
Have a great day, I'm at work today, too!

That picture of those wedding dresses is totally making me miss wedding planning!!
Do you happen to know where Katie's bridal shower dress is from? It's beautiful!!
Darcy says
Look at all those pretty wedding dresses!! Shopping for them is so fun! I ended up getting mine from the last place we went too and I actually had NO desire to go there. I only went because my mom said we had to at least check out their selection. Funny how things work out 🙂

What a gorgeous bridal shower, and LOL at HP giving you a picture in your head of what trains would be like. I'd like a ticket for the Hogwarts Express, and I'll take a chocolate frog off the Honey Dukes trolley too 🙂

So exciting that you may have found your dress! And Katie's shower was gorgeous! First time I rode a train was in Europe, and we took them everywhere. The first one was a terrible experience, but after that, it was so wonderful! I loved it! And so much great scenery along the way!

I used to loooove taking the train home from Chicago – so much more relaxing than driving and traffic! Everything about the shower looks beautiful, love both of your dresses. Yay for engagements and all things wedding!

What a lovely weekend! I agree that I had such a different idea about trains in my head than what it actually was. And under certain circumstances it definitely isn't cheap (I think my ticket was only cheap because I went at an odd time on an odd day) but the hours are definitely nice to get extra stuff done. But depending on the situation sometimes it can take longer than driving (which was the case for me–there were some delays along the way, womp womp haha). Excited to see you wednesday!

What a beautiful shower! I've never tried taking the train (it doesn't go back home) but I've always had it in the back of my head as an option just in case. I can't even imagine how exciting dress shopping is, and hey you can try as many dresses as you want, that's probably one of the most fun parts!

I love taking Amtrak! I take it from NY –> DC a few times per year, and it is just so easy & convenient!

Ahh! So exciting that you maybe found your dress! I've never been on a train either, and that is not what I expected it to look like… Pretty cool though!! John and I saw American Sniper this weekend and I totally agree with you – awesome movie but the end was a bit abrupt (but maybe that's the point? Leaves you a bit confused and disturbed?)

Hey, this bridal shower looks just stunning! I am in love with all the decorations. I also have to throw bridal shower party for my cousin and I am thinking to book her favorite Chicago event space. Isn’t that a good idea?
