Happy Friday, y’all! It has been a while since I shared a design board for our new home (see the kitchen post here) but today I want to share some inspiration for the next room we’re working on… the nursery! I want this space to be calming and cozy for our baby boy and it has been so fun picking out all the details- can’t wait to see it all come together!
Boy Nursery Design Board
Since we’re having a little boy I want to stick with the blue color palette, just not baby blue. I’m envisioning a very soft blue/gray on the walls with pops of white and navy. We’re not doing any specific “theme” but instead keeping things light and airy. I am still debating on paint vs. wallpaper and am having THE hardest time deciding!
So far we have ordered this crib, this dresser and this glider/recliner. There are tons of pretty chairs online but I did not feel comfortable making that big of a purchase without sitting in it first since that is where we will be spending a lot of our time. We wanted something super comfy, easy to clean and with a back tall enough for Ryan too. I knew I wanted a glider and wasn’t really looking at recliners until we tried out one from Oilo. Side note: Shower Me With Love in Charlotte has a great selection of gliders- we sat in the Oilo “Drew” chair but ultimately ordered the “Harlow” which is basically the same chair but with different arms. The pull bar is tucked away on the inside of the armrest so you can’t tell it’s a recliner (incognito!) but will make the perfect place to nap if we want to sleep or rest in the baby’s room.
The one thing that has been installed in the room so far is this chandelier. As far as the crib, we ordered the Abigail from Million Dollar Baby Classic. I love the vintage feel of the iron cribs and doesn’t hurt that it was super affordable, plus it can convert to a toddler bed if needed.
For our window treatments, we are having a cornice board made to go above the windows with two Roman shades. We are doing white with a navy trim and I cannot wait for them to be complete! This room gets a TON of morning sunlight so blackout lining was a must.
It does feel good to have all the “main” furniture picked out but now we need to start working on the accessories. Things like bedding, artwork, a mirror, rug, bookshelves, lamps, etc. What do y’all think of this boy nursery design board? Is there anything else major that I’m missing?? Can’t wait to share more of the process with you guys as our furniture starts to come in.
On another note, Ryan and I are going on a little “babymoon” this weekend to New York City!! I have always wanted to go for Christmas time and we thought it would be a fun trip to take before baby comes. Can’t wait to drink all the hot cocoa, see all the decorations and eat some yummy food. Seems like the perfect place to get in the Christmas spirit! I’ll be sharing our adventures on Instagram (@kristinahendley) so make sure to follow along to see bits from the Big Apple!!
