Coming Soon… Our New Home!!!


Hello, friends and happy Friday!! I know I have been a little MIA this week- adjusting to my surgery schedule (and super early wakeup times) has been a little rough, but I’m happy to report that I got in lots of studying and a few work outs this week. I’m pretty excited for this weekend- Ryan is coming to visit me, we’re celebrating my friend Rachael’s birthday, and I’m attending a blogger event (finally!). Buttttt… there’s something a little more exciting that I want to share with you all…






Ryan & I are building our first home!! 







Townhome to be exact and excited is an understatement. This literally happened within the past day and I’m still kind of in shock. A little background on the story. If y’all remember from my post last week, Ryan & I have been getting a little more serious in the house-hunting department. We looked at some condos uptown, but none of them were quite what we were looking for. We absolutely love the condo we live in now, but are also ready for a change (and more space… obvi!). We weighed the options of a 2 bedroom condo uptown or a 3 bedroom townhouse in South End and we felt that we could definitely see ourselves staying in the townhouse a little longer. 







The other week we looked at some similar townhomes that are almost complete. One of the sales had fallen through so we were contemplating it, but we would’ve had to buy ASAP which wouldn’t be the easiest considering I don’t have a job. We really liked the unit but after visiting if for the second time, Ryan got an email saying it was sold. Yep, that same afternoon. We were just starting to envision ourselves living there so it was a little disappointing, but back to Zillow we went. 







Then luck struck.







There is a similar development of townhouses being built just a few blocks from the ones we visited and Ryan had been looking at them, but only liked one specific floor plan. The 4 units with that floor plan were sold out but he was optimistic and said maybe one of those would fall through too and we would have the perfect place. Well lo and behold… it did! He called me yesterday, told me the details, and said he had to let the realtor know by 5pm. O.M.G!!!!! And just like that we were getting our first house together which will hopefully be finished next summer! 














I seriously couldn’t stop smiling yesterday and there is so much to look forward to! I think that this townhouse will be the perfect fit for us (ours will be the one on the far right). We like the city lifestyle and walkability, but aren’t ready for the maintenance of a single-family home. Not quite yet. The location is great and we will finally have a bed for our guests to sleep in. Hallelujah! As you can tell from the rendering, these will have a pretty modern design and I CANNOT WAIT to decorate and make it feel like a home.

Phew, I know this was a long post but I couldn’t contain my excitement!! I can’t wait to share this whole process from picking out the finishes to picking up our keys. From getting my first job, to marrying Ryan, to getting our first home, 2016 is looking to be a pretty great year!! I’m so very excited to start this new chapter of our lives and some things are just meant to be. Hope y’all have a great weekend and thanks for reading 🙂

    Ahhhh so exciting, CONGRATS girl! We built our first home too, and there's nothing like picking out all the details and finishes yourselves and moving into a brand spankin' new home 😀

    Congrats!!!! That is SO exciting. We are in the process of looking to buy a house and have came across a few townhomes that we just LOVE. 2016 is going to be filled with so many exciting memories for y'all! So, so exciting! 🙂
