Alright guys, we’re making some more progress on the townhouse. And by progress I mean furniture shopping!!! I’ve been looking forward to decorating our place for so long but y’all… it’s a little stressful. I feel like all of my Pinterest stalking and Instagram following has transitioned from weddings to all things home decor. Since we’re furnishing this place from scratch, we have a whole lot of shopping to do and I’m not gonna lie, it’s hard! Picking out fabrics, finishes, and trying to envision what will go together is no easy task. And a lot of furniture is final sale which is tough to think about when you’re talking about some high dollar items.
The two pieces that took first priority were our couches and our bed (both of which have been ordered!). We ended up going with the Montclair sofa from Crate & Barrel because it was a good mix of modern and traditional. We probably went to the store and sat on that thing like 5 times before we finally decided it was the one.
As y’all probably know, I love all things faux-fur and I think these stools are just the cutest! I also love that gold has made a comeback and definitely want to incorporate some fun metallic pieces in our living room. This bookshelf is on my list (although I have no idea what I would put on it, lol).
Now that we at least have our couch picked out, I have been looking at TONS of rugs. I know we don’t need this right away, but there are just so many options. Do we want shag? Wool? Tufted or looped? I have NO idea, but I do like the muted blue of this one from Pottery Barn. And I think I’m digging the blue/grey/gold color scheme.
Pillows are an easy way to add a pop of color or texture and I think West Elm has the best pillow covers. We also got one of these lacquer trays as a wedding gift and it’s such a chic and functional piece that could seriously work in any living room.

i love this selection..
thanks for sharing

Picking out all your furniture from scratch sounds like a pretty difficult task! I like what you've picked out so far! I'm no good at any of that… so we have an interior decorator that's going to be helping us out later this year. Can't wait to see what else you pick out!

Love the ideas! A tip I’ve been taught when choosing textiles is to start with something you love – art work, the colors in a rug, an amazing pillow, a fabric pattern etc. and pull from there for the other large pieces. It’s hard to match a pattern to a bunch of solids, but easy to find solids to go with a pattern. Then after that – vary the line, vary the texture and keep the colors harmonious. An easy rule to follow! Good luck and have fun!
