The guests have left, the cake has been eaten, and that beautiful wedding dress that made you feel like a million bucks is stuffed in the back of the closet. Wedding dress shopping is definitely a highlight of the planning process but what’s a girl to do with the beautiful gown once the big day has passed? I’ve heard of getting wedding dresses preserved, framing them in a box, using fabric for a future child’s christening gown, and of course… saving it in hopes that your daughter will wear it. Let’s be honest ladies, chances are slim.
Instead, why not repurpose your dress? If you don’t feel like keeping your dress around forever, are in need of some extra storage space, and would love to make another bride’s day… just sell it! Yes it’s a sentimental piece but why not make someone’s day by helping them get a heck of a deal?
STEP ONE: Check the value of your wedding dress
PreOwnedWeddingDresses.com has a wedding dress value calculator that literally takes 5 seconds to fill out. All you need to know is the designer & style of your dress, condition, the date it was purchased, the price, and if it has been dry cleaned. You don’t have to list it for the calculated price, but it’s a good place to start.
STEP TWO: Create an account
Next, create an account and get ready to list your dress. There is a one time listing fee of $25 for wedding dresses and a $5 listing fee for bridesmaid dresses, MOB dresses, and accessories. Yes, you can sell those too!! The great thing is this site doesn’t charge commission so you’ll make more compared to visiting a consignment shop or other resale site.
STEP THREE: Start your listing
Now it’s time to add a few more details to your listing. You only have to list the label size & street size but it will help if you know things like the waist size, dress length, and other details specific to your dress. Did you get alterations like a hem or a bustle? Did you sew on an accessory like a belt? Did you dry clean it or does it come as-is? These are all things a potential buyer would like to know so try to be as specific as possible!
STEP FOUR: Upload photos & submit!
Include high quality photos of your dress from the front and back. Remember, buyers prefer seeing it on a person rather than hanging or laying flat. Details are great as well such as close ups of the fabric, bustle, and buttons. Then submit your listing and you’re ready to go!
And let’s not forget you don’t only have to sell- PreOwnedWeddingDresses.com has over 20,000 wedding dresses available to purchase. They range from size 0 to 30 and prices go anywhere from $100 to over $10,000. So if you have to have that Vera but it’s a little out of your price range, this is the site to check out. So many pretty dresses!!I’d love to know what you guys think. Have any of y’all sold your wedding dress or would you consider it? If not, how do you store your dress or what do you plan to do with it in the future? No matter what you do, you will always have photos to look back on and the memories in your dress will always be cherished!
