Kimpton Tryon Park Hotel Review

As you all know I have a passion for travel and hope to continue sharing lots more travel content with you guys, but also some local spots here in Charlotte. And today’s post has both! Last weekend Ryan & I had a little “romantic staycation” at the Kimpton Tryon Park Hotel, just a mere 2.5 miles from our house. This hotel in the heart of uptown Charlotte just opened a few months ago and offers that modern, boutique feel in the perfect center city location. 

The Hotel

The Tryon Park Hotel is located in the heart of uptown Charlotte, walkable to basically anything you desire. It’s right across the street from Romare Bearden Park and just past that is our baseball stadium. It’s steps away from coffee shops, tons of restaurants and bars, and the Spectrum Center arena. It’s a boutique hotel which means that they put a lot of attention in the details, one of which is the daily happy hour in the lobby which is a great way to unwind and even mingle with other hotel guests. And for all you pet lovers out there, Kimpton hotels are pet friendly!

The Room

We had a corner room with some awesome views of Romare Bearden Park and the Charlotte skyline (I took videos but completely forgot to take a photo, whoops!). I’m somewhat of a sleep connoisseur- if there is such a thing- because I sleep like a rock and I’m happy to report the bed was super comfortable, definitely gets 5 stars. There was so much space, a separate desk area, a gorgeous modern bathroom and we even got seersucker robes! We loved that touch of southern hospitality.

   

The Food & Entertainment

The first night of our stay we had dinner at Angeline’s, a modern Italian restaurant located on the bottom floor of the hotel. I absolutely love the decor and cozy vibe, not to the mention the food was delicious! I got my usual favorite Italian appetizer (prosciutto and melon) and for dinner we ordered the pumpkin agnolotti and sea scallops. Their tiramisu was even topped with edible gold flakes, so fancy! They also offer brunch on the weekends and Ryan & I will definitely be going back to check that out.

    
If you’re looking for cocktails, tasty apps and panoramic views of Charlotte’s skyline, you have to check out Merchant & Trade. This bar & lounge is located on the 19th floor of the hotel and has become quite the popular spot the few months it has been open. They have so much outdoor seating and while I have gone out here twice at night, I’m excited to go back for happy hour and an amazing sunset view. They also have a private rentable outdoor space that would be perfect for a party or shower. And FYI, they do have a dress code and you can find it here.

Even though the Kimpton Tryon Park hotel was just a few miles away from our house (and only 3 blocks from our old condo), we really enjoyed being guests in our own city and all that the hotel had to offer. If you’re planning a trip to Charlotte or thinking about having your own staycation, I can’t recommend this hotel enough.
