I thought I would share one of my favorite school outfits (which is also perfect to wear to work if you’re in a business casual environment). When dressing professionally, you want to look neat and put together, but can still find ways to incorporate your individual style. One of the hot items right now are patterned pants. While I wouldn’t show up to work with crazy florals, a classic geometric pattern is a great way to break you out of your black/gray/khaki rut. 
Mixing patterns is great, but if you want to play it safe, I would stick with a solid top to balance out your look. These Banana Republic pants are my new favorites- they have an amazing fit and are so comfortable. I love pairing them with my neutral wedges, but will definitely transition to flats once I start my clinicals. And no work ensemble would be complete without a sturdy tote. Whether you’re carrying extra shoes, a lunchbox, or a change of clothes, a roomy tote is essential as you’re traveling to and from your workplace.

#Trending: Snail Mail with Treat

So I’m walking through the store and need to get a card and this should be an easy process, but it honestly takes me like 15 minutes (I’m so indecisive). I sift through good cards, bad cards, really pretty but expensive cards- we’re talking $8.00 people… not on this budget!
I was recently introduced to Treat by Shutterfly, an online company who can customize greeting cards and other kinds of gifts. This is perfect if you’re like me and are obsessed with pictures (and let’s face it, most of us bloggers are) and want to add that personal touch to your greeting card. 
When I received my cards I was in love! The pictures looked amazing and the quality of the paper was great. I wanted to hand address these myself, but Treat can address them for you and send the card straight to the recipient. Cards are around $3.50 each, but you can buy 6,18, or 24 packs making them as low as $2 per card. Not a bad deal, I’d say- just add a stamp and some pretty return address labels and you’re ready to go!

Obviously I had to make one for Ryan’s birthday but these super cute cards can be sent for any occasion. I also sent some words of encouragement to a new first year Campbell PA student because who doesn’t love getting some snail mail? Treat has cards for pretty much any occasion, as well as other fun personalized gifts.

I’m sure some of you have seen this cute little cartoon- I think it sums up how our communication has changed over the years. Apart from bills and annoying credit card offers, this girl absolutely loves getting cards and snail mail. My grandma & I have been writing letters back and forth ever since I moved away for college and it’s something that I look forward to and it always brightens my day. Weekending (+ officially a 2nd year!)

It’s Monday, I’m back at school, and my 2nd year of PA school has officially begun!!!! I seriously can’t believe it. Today starts our orientation week and I’m so very excited to learn all about clinicals, meet the new PA class (yay for newbies!), and go to lots of fun events. I’m going to enjoy this entire week with the roomies & my classmates until I have to back to Charlotte on Sunday. So without further ado, here is a little peek into my weekend.
As you may know, this weekend we celebrated Ryan’s birthday and it was filled with lots of entertainment. On Friday, we went to the Panthers first pre-season game which was so much fun (thank goodness the rain held out). We were excited to check out the renovations to the stadium and let me just give a shout out to the escalators. My feet thank you. We finished the night off with some beverages at Tin Roof, a live music bar in the Epicenter.
By the way, how freakin cute are these baby Coke cans? Ryan brought them home after work- he had pre-ordered them when he was still working at Coke. How sweet!

Saturday night Ryan & I continued the festivities at the Oddball Festival comedy tour. I’ve only ever been to one little comedy show (Eddie Murphy’s brother) but this was a long lineup of some of the biggest comedians out there- some of my favorites being Aziz Ansari, Chris Hardwick, and Jeff Ross. These guys can definitely get a bit crude (seriously, how do they get away with the stuff they say?) but hey, laughter is the best medicine!


Did I mention how gloomy Saturday & Sunday were? Gloomy weather is perfect for…. you guessed it, shopping! We made our way down to the brand new Charlotte Premium Outlets, which are super nice and have a great selection of stores. No trip to the outlets is complete without a visit to J.Crew Factory and they had lots of cute pieces that got me excited for fall. I tried on this vest– I had my eye on it last year and it almost left with me, but I refuse to pay full price at this place… fingers crossed it goes on sale soon!

Oh Hey, Friday! So Long, Vacay.

Well, it’s the last Friday of my vacation and I’m not really okay with it. On a brighter note, today is Ryan’s birthday!! My handsome hunk of a boyfriend turns 30 today and I’m so glad that I get to be here and celebrate with him. Here’s a little recap of what I did this week:
Golfed… Ryan has been with his new job for a few weeks and they just launched their program on Monday so he had to work like crazy last weekend. No fun. He had a break in his day on Monday so I accompanied him and a friend to the Ballantyne golf course. I’m more of a put-put kind of girl, but it was fun to see Ryan’s skills in action. Plus I had fun driving the golf cart, even though it was 90 degrees out, phew!

Visited… My teeny hometown of Marion. I went to spend some time with my friend Kelly, my parents, and my grandma. I don’t go home very often because it’s more fun when my parents come to Charlotte to visit, but it was great to see everyone and catch up on life.

Filled… in my teeth that is. I’m bad about flossing y’all, I’ll admit it, but you can bet that I’m a changed woman after I found out how many cavities I had. I had the joy of getting 3 fillings on Wednesday and had to get numbed on the top and bottom. I had to run some quick errands and naturally I ran into two people who wanted to strike up a conversation with me while half of my mouth felt huge and droopy.. no fun I tell ya!
Ate… a yummy chicken salad sandwich with Katie & Logan. We had a little girls night and even made watermelon mint martinis that were absolutely delicious. It was a perfect night to eat outside… until the bugs got us!

Layed… out by the pool. Might as well work on my tan a little, although it’s not as fun when you’re by yourself. Just me, the sun, and Kimmy K’s marriage sham. Ps. these are not hot dog legs.

Watched… a baseball game. I finally went to a Knight’s game y’all! Yesterday was an absolutely gorgeous day and I wanted to spend as much time outside as possible. Ryan & I were in line to get standing room only tickets (because the seats were sold out) when an older couple came up to us and gave us 2 free tickets. I don’t know what it is, but we have been extremely lucky lately in the ticketing department (read about my luck at the JT concert here). So… here it is. The picture that pretty much all Charlotteans have posted all over Facebook, Instagram, etc. The skyline makes quite the backdrop for the baseball game, and we even saw a few home runs! 

My little vacay is wrapping up and on Monday I’ll be back at Campbell for my clinical year orientation and will get to meet the new class of PA students. I can’t believe that one short year ago I was moving to Lillington and starting school- it seriously flew by but I’m so excited to start my clinical year! Now excuse me, I’m off to enjoy this beautiful day and celebrate with my birthday boy. TGIF 🙂

#Trending Tuesday: Maxi Moment

Maxi dresses are the ultimate summer uniform. They’re easy, flowy, and oh so chic. Not much outfit planning is involved, all you have to do is add some accessories! I got this dress last year at Petal (one of my favorite boutiques in Charlotte) and it is my go-to when I want to get a little glammed up. I especially love the open back. I wore this recently for a girls night out, but you could easily dress it up even more with a metallic clutch and some strappy heels and you would be ready for a summer wedding! I’m super short (or as Ryan likes to say, “fun-sized”) but I feel that maxis are very elongating… I at least like to think I look a little taller!
Oh and I can’t forget to give a shoutout to my sweet photog. We know nothing about photography but I think his pictures are on point (thanks to the new camera & a little bit of practice)! It’s a learning process but it’s always fun when you’re doing it with your main squeeze 🙂

Ps. Last night I was so excited to find out that I received a little scholarship for this next year of school! It’s good to know that all my essay writing finally paid off.. any little bit helps when you’re taking out as many loans as I am! For today I’ll be heading home to good ol’ Marion to hang out with my friend Kelly, my parents & my grandma. I hope everyone enjoys their Tuesday!

I’m absolutely loving this little popover top that I got from a little store called “Sarah’s closet.” Yeah, you know that one… just one bedroom away! When we saw it in J.Crew Factory I have to say I wasn’t that impressed, but when I put it on I was like, “Hey! this is super cute!” An easy top and some white skinnies is the perfect casual outfit for the summer (as long as it’s not 100 degrees outside). 
Speaking of white denim, I feel like it can be hard to find the right fit/material that you absolutely love. Many that I try on are too thick, too thin, or don’t provide enough stretch. I got these at GAP this spring and now they’re on super sale– I love them! I even snagged some in a petite size so no hemming was involved for these short legs- yes! We may be on the tail end of summer but I would scoop these up if you’ve been looking for a great pair of white jeans. Happy last day of July!
