Our Wedding Day: The First Look

To do a first look or not do a first look? That was the question.

Actually, it wasn’t a question at all! Ryan & I knew we wanted a first look from the moment we started wedding planning. Having only an hour after the ceremony to take pictures and make our guests wait on us sounded like a logistical nightmare. Unless you happened to have a 2pm Catholic wedding, then by all means I would take photos after the ceremony. We wanted to get our portraits, wedding party photos and some family photos out of the way so that later we could focus on other things (like practicing our dance!). We got to spend some extra time with each other that day and it was completely worth it. Here’s a look at the first time I got to see my handsome groom!

Rainbow Row

Happy Monday, y’all! Today I’m sharing my outfit from the last day of The Blog Societies Conference. In case you missed it, you can read my recap here. When visiting the charming city of Charleston, a stop by Rainbow Row is a must (especially if you’re a blogger wanting to get some fun photos!). It is a long row of houses located on East Bay Street that are every color of the rainbow- my favorite being the pink and turquoise ones. They truly add to the southern charm and history of The Holy City.

Rainbow Row is definitely one of the most photographed areas in Charleston and of course we ran into other blog friends who were shooting their outfits as well. There aren’t many pretty walls here in Charlotte so I had to take advantage! I’ve really been into real estate since we bought our new townhouse so I thought I’d pull up Zillow and see what one of these babies go for. 2.2 million, is what!! So you, too, can have your very own pink house… but it’ll cost ya!

All the stores are stocked up with the latest fall styles but of course I had to bring lightweight and summery items with me on the trip. I last wore this dress with neutral accessories but this time I switched things up with a turquoise Kendra Scott necklace and my fun coral wedges. It was perfect to wear to the breakfast and workshops because I felt cute, but also super comfortable. I have gotten so much use out of it this summer and I want to thank my friend Lindsay for introducing me to the brand!

Floral Print Romper Under $35

Hi, friends!! I hope everyone enjoyed their weekend. I squeezed in some TV time (so. many. shows.) but yesterday was a super productive day. I went to brunch with Ryan’s family and then me, him and his mom headed back to our condo to do some major cleaning. And I mean MAJOR! We are getting ready to put our place on the market so this was way overdue and honestly it felt great to throw out so much junk. Our place is spotless and let’s hope it can stay that way!

Today I’m sharing another outfit from Charleston from day two of #TBScon. When packing for this weekend, I knew that I had to pack light and breathable outfits. If you’ve ever been to Charleston, then you know the humidity hits you like a ton of bricks as soon as you step outside (especially in August). We took these photos around 9am with the sun beating down on us and it was a struggle, but we just couldn’t pass up a pink wall now, could we?? When I spotted this romper at H&M, I knew I had to snag it for the trip. It’s light, flowy, & feminine and also comes in navy if you’re looking for a more transitional piece.

Ryan isn’t really into rompers (most men feel the same, I think) but he actually said “this wasn’t bad for a romper.” Progress, people!! To dress up my look, I paired the romper with my Sam Edelman lace-up sandals and pink tassel earrings. Speaking of earrings, does anyone feel like their earring holes are getting stretched out as you get older?? I love to wear statement earrings but this does worry me. When I was at the conference, Megan (I’m Fixin’ To) introduced me to the Kendra Scott lobe wonders and they truly saved the day. They are a medical grade tape that you place on the back of your ears to help support those heavier earrings and make them more comfortable. Needless to say, as soon as I got back in Charlotte I went to the store and got my own box. Trust me on this one!

I popped into some boutiques this weekend and I think I’m officially ready for fall. Or at least slightly cooler September-ish weather. All the cute vests and booties are out and by this point in the summer, I’m pretty much over the pool and sweating to death. However, I am ready for one last beach trip and am counting down the days until I get to fly to Miami with my best girlfriends (17 days to be exact!). It’s that time of the week again… the best time if you ask me! Today I’m linking with Amanda & Christina to talk about my five favorites from the week so let’s jump right in!

1// Birthday Celebrations

This stud just had a birthday!! On Monday, we celebrated Ryan’s birthday with a surprise dinner date to Good Food on Montford, a yummy tapas restaurant here in Charlotte. It has been on his “restaurants-to-try” list for a while so he was pleasantly surprised and for all my locals, I highly recommend the steamed buns. So good! This was the second year in a row that we had a wedding on his birthday weekend so no trips for us but maybe next year!

Ps. Style Me Pretty is featuring “hot grooms” on their Instagram this month and I would love y’all forever if you would like this photo for me. I would love for the hubs to be featured because, well, he’s a hot groom!!

2 // Wedding Weekend

In case you missed Wednesday’s post, I was channeling my inner Belle last weekend for a wedding. One of my sorority sisters, Ashton, got married last Saturday and it was beautiful wedding in a beautiful venue. This was actually the first wedding that I’ve been to that had a band instead of a DJ (a little late to the party, I know) and it was a lot of fun but I have to say… I still prefer a good DJ!

3 // Townhouse Update

We. Have. WALLS!! I know the last update I gave y’all was around July 4th and we were still waiting on a foundation. Well, ever since that was poured it seems like they are making much quicker progress. It’s annoying that these projects in Charlotte always seem to be behind, but I don’t have another picture, but they now have plywood so it looks like it’s about time to start on the second floor. Can we just move in already?!?

4. The Olympics

The olympics have been taking up way too much of my time, who’s with me?? Of course the US is in the lead with overall medals (38) including 16 golds and how awesome was the women’s gymnastics team?! They killed it! I am a former cheerleader and dabbled in some gymnastics when I was younger so naturally, that is my favorite sport to watch and I honestly think it’s the most interesting to watch. Diving might be a close second- I got nuts over all the acrobatic stuff. And can’t forget about Michael Phelps, he is just incredible!

5. Find of the Week

As I was perusing Target the other day, this tote caught my eye. First off, I love that oversized tassel and I think it’s safe to say tassels aren’t going anywhere for a while. Thank goodness. The tote is actually 2 bags in 1- there is a crossbody bag inside which is pretty nifty. It’s faux leather, under $45 and comes in 5 pretty colors. I may have to go back and scoop it up because it’s the perfect tote for fall!

Last night we got a pretty little package that contained our printed wedding photos and USB drive so the time has come for me to share all our wedding details with you guys! Be on the lookout for a “wedding Wednesday” post every week. Hope y’all have a fabulous Friday and thanks for stopping by!
