Blush Pleated Midi Skirt

It’s Monday again and we’re officially in the last week of July. How crazy is that?! This weekend I spent lots of QT with the husband. We had a double date at Ruth’s Chris on Friday, went to a free hot yoga class together on Saturday and had another pool party at our condo, and topped it all off with a lazy Sunday complete with ice cream and lots of TV. It has been crazy hot around here lately and I gotta say… I’m about ready for this heat wave to be over! I’m also (not so) patiently waiting for my second #NSALE order to come in. Today I’m sharing a look I wore on a recent date night. I’ve had my eye out for a fun midi skirt for a while and what better color to get than blush? I wasn’t sure if I could pull off this style due to my short girl status but some fun heels and a crop top are key. Midis have become quite trendy and if done right, they can still be petite friendly.

I like this skirt because it’s ultra-feminine and will easily take you from summer into fall. I paired it with this front-tie crop top (which is now on major sale) and my trusty studded heels. This look could easily transition into cooler temps with a 3/4 sleeve top and some heeled booties.

What else did I get accomplished this weekend? I ordered new blog business cards for The Blog Societies conference in Charleston that is quickly approaching. This will be my very first blog conference and I couldn’t be more excited! To all you ladies that have been before- any advice or tips for a first-timer? I’d love to hear!

#NSALE Picks: Under $100

Alright y’all, the day has come. The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is officially open to the public (yay!!) so now everyone can get their hands on these awesome deals for fall. I’m not going to beat the whole #NSALE thing to death, however I wouldn’t be a real blogger without mentioning it because hello… I love to shop! Today I’m taking you through some of my top picks that won’t break the bank- they’re all under $100. I’ll be sharing a few of the things I got, sent back, and what’s on my wish list. Happy shopping, y’all!

1. Lush V-Neck Tunic

If there was one staple piece to get for the fall, this is it. This top is back by popular demand and is loose, flowy, and long enough to be worn with leggings.

2. Kendra Scott ‘Elton’ Cuff

It’s no secret that I’m a huge fan of Kendra Scott jewelry and what better time to scoop up some new pieces? I love these thin cuffs- lightweight and perfect for stacking!

3. Ted Baker Floral Leather Strap Watch

I’m not currently in the market for a watch but… this one definitely caught my eye. How fun is that floral print and the black and gold face? It also has a date function and is affordable. Swoon!

4. Cupcakes & Cashmere Faux Leather Moto Jacket

SUCH a cute faux leather jacket! I ordered the black one and wanted to love it, however I had the same problem I always have with jackets- the sleeves were a bit too long. But don’t let that deter you, I’m just petite and have super short arms. Ugh. But this jacket though… so pretty!

5. Halogen Pointy Toe Flats

The lace-up shoe is taking over the world! Halogen always comes out with the pretties shoes every year during the sale and this year it’s this lace-up flat. They come in several colors and I just ordered them in the “bordeaux.”

6. BP

Blanket scarves are back! Well, almost. The BP section always has cute accessories and I scooped up this red plaid scarf for only $18. Ryan was like, “Don’t you already have a plaid scarf?” Men…

7. Kate Spade Mini Glitter Studs

The glittery studs are back, but this time in a more petite version. These would make a great gift for a girlfriend or fun stocking stuffer. For $20 you just can’t beat it!

8. Hinge Wool Hat

Last fall I fully embraced the floppy hat trend and am looking to add a brown hat to my collection. They’re perfect for those bad hair days, am I right?

9. Treasure & Bond Fringed Poncho

I love love love the colors of this poncho! However, the “one-size-fits-all” element always scares me a little bit (remember, short girl problems) so this might be something I’d need to try on in store. It would be the perfect layering piece with a tee and some riding boots.

10. BP Faux Leather Drawstring Tote

I love a good designer handbag, but sometimes it’s nice to find more affordable alternatives. I love the shape of this bag and that cognac color is so pretty. At $35, it’s such a steal!

11. TOMS Peep Toe Booties

If you get one shoe for fall, get a bootie. TOMS are known for their comfort which is super important for this girl. I have my eye on these and love the peep toe.

12. Lush Strappy Blouse

The “x-front” and lace-up trend is everywhere this season. I really liked this top (ordered it in the cabernet color) but once again… the sleeves!! Super soft material and flattering neckline- I’d definitely scoop this one up.

13. Zella ‘Live-In’ Crop Leggings

We all know Zella workout gear is the bomb. I got these leggings in the blue/green color and they do not disappoint. I know I can always count on this brand for great quality clothing that is comfortable and stylish.

Who else is excited for the weekend?! Restaurant Week in Charlotte starts tonight so Ryan & I will be double dating at Ruth’s Chris, one of the best steakhouses around. I’m getting hungry just thinking about it but will be sure to save my appetite. Hope y’all have a fabulous weekend 🙂

Le Tote Review

You know that saying, “variety is the spice of life?” Well, if you’re indecisive or tire of things quickly, subscription boxes are the best way to get a little variety into your everyday routine. I first heard of Le Tote over a year ago but never took the plunge to try it so I was pretty excited when one of my friends referred me to try it. First box for free? I’ll take it! In case you’ve been wondering what these monthly clothing boxes are like, I thought it was only fitting that I share my experience with you guys. Now, let’s get into the Le Tote review!

First, let’s talk specifics. LeTote is a monthly subscription box for clothes to keep your wardrobe exciting and fresh. For $49/month, you can wear the clothes for as long as you like and then return them OR have the option of purchasing the items at a discount. Each box contains five items which include clothing (tops, pants, dresses, jackets) and accessories (jewelry, handbags, scarves). Mine included 2 tops, 1 dress, and 2 pieces of jewelry. You can let the stylists completely surprise you, or fill out the style survey and make a wish list of items from the site.

Here’s a peek of what came inside my first box:

OCTAVIA RUFFLE SLEEVE BLOUSE

This navy blue ruffle top was my favorite item from the box. I had a size XS but as you can see, it was still pretty loose and flowy. You know I’m all about some ruffles and I feel that this top is super versatile. I paired it with my striped skinny jeans but I think it would look really cute tucked into a pencil skirt for work.

AVA TURQUOISE CUFF

I also got this turquoise bracelet which was a fun statement piece. I love anything turquoise for summer and I liked that it had a hinge so it was easy to take on and off.

OCTAVIA EMBROIDERED SHELL TOP

The next piece was this cream & white top. It was made of a felt-like material and had some pretty gold embroidery. I styled it with a pencil skirt because this top seemed to be fitting for an office environment, more conservative than trendy.

TERA DAYS POLKA DOT DRESS

The fourth item in the box was this brown polka dot midi dress. I am into the midi trend right now, however, I felt like there was a lot of extra fabric in the skirt and it made me feel a little frumpy. The color palette wasn’t my favorite and overall it just didn’t seem very flattering.

OCTAVIA & CO FEATHER DROPS

The last item in my box were these feather earrings. I’m not a big fan of silver and I didn’t feel that these paired very well with my other pieces so I opted not to wear them.

OVERALL CONSENSUS

If you like to constantly try new outfits and discover new brands, Le Tote would be great to try. Since I mostly wear scrubs to work, I wasn’t really looking for professional attire and that’s what my box was more geared to. I also felt that the items didn’t really fit my style personality- they felt a little older than my age and did not seem on-trend. Personally, I don’t plan on keeping the subscription going but it was still fun to give it a try. Have any of y’all tried Le Tote? Tybee Island Bachelorette Recap

This weekend, 11 of us girls headed down to Georgia for our friend Ashton’s bachelorette party (woohoo!). I’ve known Ashton since my sophomore year of college. She rushed ZTA when she was a freshman and we ended up having the same “big sister” and since then have always called each other “twinnie.” She is getting married in 3 short weeks and I can’t wait to celebrate (with my hot new hubby as my date, of course!). This was my first time to Savannah and my first time going out of town since our honeymoon so this weekend was much needed.

Breezy Blues

TGIF! TGIF! Another week gone and we’re halfway through July… how crazy is that?! The highlight of this week was getting all of our wedding photos (YAY!) and I have already spent way too much time looking through them. They are amazing and I can’t wait to share them with y’all in the next few weeks.

Today I’m sharing a fun look that I wore for the 4th of July. This trapeze tank is one of the softest and lightest tops I’ve ever felt. Something light and breezy was key because it was quite toasty that day. I paired it with my trusty white skinnies and my blush tote. And I’m still amazed at the high quality and fit of these jeans for the price- you can’t beat $54! Of course I had to add a red lip to keep things patriotic and that night Ryan & I watched the big fireworks show uptown. It’s hard to believe that we’re halfway through summer!

Today, my girlfriends and I are headed to Tybee Island/Savannah, GA for our friend Ashton’s bachelorette party! I’ve been to Charleston many times but this will be my first time to Savannah so I’m excited to explore, lay on the beach, and have lots of girl time. Dressed-Up Casual

Hi, friends and hello Monday! I take it everyone had a good weekend. The most eventful part of mine would have to be our in-home massage on Saturday. It was quite the experience- the massage therapist came straight to our condo with a fold-up table, sheets, and tranquil music playing on her iPad and we each got an hour long Swedish massage. Ryan had found a Groupon deal so we decided to try it out and while it was a little different than going into a spa, it was super convenient- the hubs was especially happy that he could take a nap right after his massage. We kept it pretty low-key this weekend but I’m counting down the days until Friday when I head to Tybee Island/Savannah for a friend’s bachelorette party!

I recently picked up this Topshop lace skirt because I honestly don’t have enough skirts in my wardrobe. I wanted something I could dress up or dress down, and this fit the bill. One thing to note with this brand is that you have to size up (I’m wearing a US 4). We had a cookout to go to on Saturday night so I kept it casual with this super soft tee. Seriously… amazingly soft and under $10. Target wins again.

I had been looking for some black sandals to wear to an upcoming bachelorette party (this weekend!) and came across these block heels. Yes, it was hard for me to break away from my nude shoe obsession, but a little shoe diversity is a good thing. I’d say block heels are giving wedges a run for their money this season and I fell in love with these as soon as I got them. I love the soft suede and the fact that they lace up. Give me ALL the lace-up heels 🙂

On a side note, Ryan & I started watching The Night Of on HBO last night and it is SO good. Did anyone else watch?! It’s a mini-series about a murder in NYC and I loveee a good murder mystery. Thanks for reading & hope y’all have a great week 🙂
