This weekend has been in the making for over a year and I’m thrilled that my first time in Sin City will be with 6 of my best girlfriends.

Beauty-Full Hair with Tresemme

Some of us have thick, coarse hair that can last five days between washes. And then there’s the rest of us with fine, straight hair that needs a little “oomph” to get us through the day. I happen to fall into the latter category and am always on the lookout for new hair products that can give me the volume that my hair lacks. I recently found out about the new “Beauty-Full” Volumizing Line from TRESemmé and knew I had to give it a try. 


I’m a huge fan of their TRES Two hairspray and have been using it for years so I was excited to try out the new shampoo, conditioner and styling products. The main difference with this line compared to others is the reverse care system. You condition BEFORE you shampoo. Yes, it seems backwards but as we all know, it’s good to switch up your hair routine every now and then. The idea is that conditioning your hair first won’t leave as much “weight.” And don’t worry, these products are perfectly safe for color-treated hair!

To achieve this look, I started with the Beauty-full Volume Pre-Wash Conditioner (just a small amount- remember conditioner is for ends, not roots) and followed with the shampoo. I normally don’t use a lot of product in my hair, but also gave the Hair Maximizer a try. I just ran a small amount through my hair before blowdrying and styling with a curling iron (because let’s be honest- I rarely ever wear my hair straight). It made my hair feel incredibly smooth and frizz-free while giving it some body. To keep everything in place, I finished up with the TRESemmé Beauty-Full Volume Hairspray.

What I found to love about this line is that it gives my hair the “oomph” that I want with the help of styling products, but doesn’t weigh it down. And another thing I love? The price! There are tons of hair product lines out there, but to find a quality products that are also affordable is a big win in my book. First Month on the Job

Hi, friends!! I hope everyone is having a good week so far and I’m happy to see that it’s warming up since our quite chilly first day of spring. It’s been a while since I’ve done a medical post and I’ve had a lot of questions about my new job so I thought I was overdue for an update! 
First and foremost, it’s safe to say I LOVE my job!


I know it’s still early in the game, but I feel so thankful that I was able to get into my dream specialty straight out of school. There is definitely a learning curve when starting off in a specialty versus primary care (like family medicine or ER) but it’s not so bad when you’re passionate about the field. I feel comfortable seeing patients, performing histories and physicals but there are SO many different conditions and treatments to learn- not only medical but cosmetic as well. But not to worry, one of the doctors I work with gave me some light reading to do over the next few months. See giant book below. And the studying continues…

Your coworkers can make or break your job experience and this is truly something I always wonder about when starting a new position. Will people be friendly? Will I fit in? Will I be able to ask questions? Will I like the environment? I can honestly say that the providers and medical assistants have been super helpful and welcoming. They have made this transition a smooth one and are always available when I bombard them with questions. And I have a lot 🙂
I have been working about a month & a half and have seen tons of interesting things. The great thing about my practice is that we see a wide variety of dermatology. There are general derm conditions like acne and mole checks, cosmetic treatments like Botox and fillers, laser treatments (I think we have like 25 different devices), MOHS surgery for skin cancer, and even sclerotherapy and laser vein ablation. Phew… told you it was a lot! 
For those that have been following for a while, you know that I have been SO ready for a job for so long. I’m finally getting the flow of things at the office and am establishing my routine. The EMR is making more sense and I’m slowly become more self-sufficient. Do I get a little overwhelmed at times? Yes. Mostly because I know I have SO much to study and just so much going on in life in general. My typical days lately consist of work, some kind of workout class after that, cooking dinner/going to a Hornets game, wedding planning/catching up on emails, and a little bit of reading. And now that warm weather is coming, all I want to do is be outside!

I know I have been a little MIA around here (and I hate it!) but once wedding planning comes to a halt, I plan to be back blogging 3 times a week like the good ‘ol days. I miss coming to this space every day but some major life events are happening right now!! Lots of fun wedding posts are coming your way and feel free to let me know if you’d like to see any dermatology-centered posts in the future.

I have been working out like a mad woman lately because hello… I’m getting married! Of course I want to be fit and toned for my wedding- there’s a dress, tons of photos, and all eyes will be on Ryan & I. However, health and fitness are an important part of my daily lifestyle that goes way beyond the wedding. It’s always good to have extra motivation, though! For a normal workout, I usually run outside through uptown Charlotte, do some circuit training in our gym, or occasionally take a strength class at the YMCA. Last month, I decided to switch things up and go out of my comfort zone. I signed up for ClassPass.

Happy Monday, friends!! I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend- I would say mine was quite productive. I finished addressing and sent out the last batch of our wedding invites and boy, does it feel good! I’m telling y’all, checklists have never been so exciting. And while wedding planning is fun, I’m also ready to have free weekends again. Now I can look forward to more fun tasks like coming up with the seating chart. And I say fun with total sarcasm because let’s be honest… I’ve heard those things are dreadful!

You may recognize this dress from my bridal shower and it has quickly graduated to one of the top 3 pieces in my closet. I wore it recently for a date night with Ryan so naturally we had to snap a few photos. It was a bit of a splurge for me, however, picking out something that’s high quality and unique makes it totally worth it. Revolve has become one of my first stops in online shopping- they have SO many fun and trendy pieces and the selection is huge… which can also make things hard for an indecisive girl like me! I know I will be getting plenty of wear from this dress from spring into summer. 





And speaking of spring, it’s officially less than a week away! I was just looking through my closet and determined it’s about that time to put away the sweaters and unpack the fun summer stuff. Hellooo daylight savings time! Ryan & I had our first al fresco dinner date on Friday and it was simply amazing. And last but not least on the wedding front, we start our dance lessons tomorrow!!! Not only will this help our first dance, but it will also make for some fun date nights over the next few weeks. Hopefully Ryan doesn’t have two left feet!

Spring Brights at J.McLaughlin

Last Friday, I attended a fun little event at the J.McLaughlin store here in Charlotte. I was slightly familiar with the brand, associating it with classic and resort-ready pieces, but had never actually set foot into a store. When I came to check out their selection I was overwhelmed with all of the cuteness. Fun patterns and bright colors galore!

What I was most impressed with, however, was the material of some of their pieces (including this fabulous blue dress). Naturally, I looked it up and discovered that the “Catalina cloth” is one of the signature materials for J.McLaughlin- a combination of jersey and a little spandex. You just have to feel it for yourself… I’m obsessed! A lot of these pieces are great for traveling because they’re super easy to care for- machine washable and no ironing required. Now, that’s my kind of dress!

This event also featured a pop-up shop from Margaux, a new ballet flat company based out of NYC. These little suede flats come in a ton of colors (yes, even leopard), have a cushy footbed, and can even be made-to-measure. I got to meet the two creators who dreamed up this idea while they were in college at Harvard and now have created a truly amazing shoe line. These would definitely come in handy around the office. I’m a sucker for neutrals but I gotta say, I’m digging this bold red!
Some other bloggers in attendance were Kristen from Every Chic Way, Maggie from Polished Closets, and Taylor-Rae from Style Souffle. I love meeting new bloggers and catching up with others that I’ve met at previous events- it really is an awesome community and we all had fun shopping and chatting over prosecco & macarons!

On another note, let’s celebrate because we’ve made it halfway through the workweek! Yesterday was my 1-month anniversary at my new job and I’m loving it more and more each day. It’s definitely keeping me busy though because I have SO much to learn but luckily I work with some great people who are making this transition a smooth one.
