Chambray and white are the perfect spring uniform. And yes, I know there’s snow on the ground behind me but I’m trying to get into serious spring mode over here! I wore this easy outfit when Ryan & I headed to Raleigh for lunch last weekend. Chambray is my go-to when I don’t know what to wear, but still want to look cute and put together. This shirt probably gets the most wear out of anything in my closet because it works well in every season, the staple of all closet staples.
Yes to the Dress!
Soooo if you follow me on Instagram you may have heard the good news… I said YES to the DRESS!! About a month ago I went dress shopping with my MOH Logan and we went to two boutiques. I liked two dresses at the first place (or thought I did) and loved one dress at the second. I looked at pictures of that one on my phone over and over… and the more I saw it, the more I liked it.
I decided to make one more appointment for Saturday at another store because I knew it had a really large selection and this girl’s gotta be sure about her purchase. I probably tried on 10 more dresses that morning and while there were several favorites, none of them gave me “that feeling” that I got in the other dress. No, I didn’t have that break-down-and-cry moment, but I knew there was something awesome about it.
I also scheduled another appointment at Ladies of Lineage (highly recommend by the way) for Saturday afternoon to come see my dress again and see if I still loved it as much as I did the first time. The designer was also having a trunk show so I tried on two other gowns and I have to say one of them was a close second (dress shopping is hard y’all… I love them all!). After some deliberating and pic stitch action, I knew that the first dress was the one for me!! I know I’m over a year out from my wedding, but why keep shopping around if I know this is the one? It totally fits my personality and has that “wow factor” that I was looking for 🙂
I’m so glad that me, my MOH Logan, and bridesmaid Katie got to make a day out of it and it was fun to celebrate with them. We popped some more champagne and took our official Ladies of Lineage Instagram photo!

Ps. I wasn’t the only one saying yes this weekend. Ryan & I went to the Hornets basketball game on Saturday and during a time out they did the kiss cam aka “conversation heart cam.” First the heart said hug me, then kiss me, then after this couple kissed it changed to “marry me” and started playing Marry You by Bruno Mars… and then the guy proposed!! This was my first time seeing one of these public proposals and it was pretty cool! I’m sure they didn’t care about the game at all after that.
And speaking of white dresses, Lupita Nyong’o killed it again at the Oscars. Her Calvin Klein Collection dress was embellished with over 6,000 pearls!!! It’s probably one of the coolest dresses I’ve ever seen. She was a stunner but all I could think was, how much does this dress weigh?!?

Valentine’s Weekending
Happy Monday! I hope all of you had a super fabulous weekend, I know I did! It’s been extra cold here in Charlotte and the word is that we’re getting snow/ice in the next few days. I’ll be heading back to Raleigh today and while I don’t have that much school to miss, it would be fun to be snowed in at least once this year, right? Here’s a little look into this past weekend:
Friday I got a hair cut (it’s pretty short y’all) and met with the caterer to look at some linens. That night I finished crafting up Ryan’s man bouquet and then my girlfriends and I headed to the movies to see 50 Shades of Grey. I gotta say I enjoyed it- the movie followed the book very closely and I thought Dakota Johnson did a great job, however Jamie Dornan’s acting could have been a little bit better if you ask me. I hadn’t read the books since they came out and totally forgot how it ended so needless to say it’s a cliffhanger! Ps. the soundtrack is pretty amazing too- obsessed with the new Ellie Goulding song!
Ps. The donut food truck outside the movie theater was the cherry on top!
Saturday was spent running to Target (our pantry was like a barren wasteland), cleaning up the condo, and working on my paper… well, reading articles for my paper. I was so excited when Ryan finally got home from London that afternoon and I’m glad that he was still up for a fun date night!! We exchanged our gifts and I have to say that Ryan got pretty witty this year. I told him I didn’t really need much for V-Day so he told me he was going to wrap boxes of hugs. And that’s exactly what I got… see that box of chocolate Hugs? Veryyyyy clever.
We had dinner reservations at Pisces, a yummy sushi place in Midtown. We decided to get crazy and order the “love boat” and also enjoyed the live music they had going on- think today’s hits and throwbacks slowed down with a Robin Thick-esque voice. He was pretty awesome! Ryan loved his “heart wall” full of things I love about him and his man bouquet which happened to have a not-so-manly pink bow and was filled with lots of random goodies.
Sunday was all about sleeping in, getting in a good workout, and then heading to Cantina 1511 to celebrate my friend Logan’s birthday! It was a quadruple date night and a good time, as always. And no Mexican dinner is complete without margs and tres leches, right?
Please tell me y’all watched the SNL 40th Anniversary Special last night!! JT and Jimmy Fallon killed it, I mean, who better to open the show? I loved how they recreated a lot of the sketches and threw in some celebrities for fun. One of my favorites was The Californians with Bradley Cooper. We only watched the first half because we were late coming back from dinner, but excited to finish it today! Hope y’all have a great Monday… stay warm!

2 // Lottery Woes
I didn’t win the Powerball. Shocking, I know, but I had a really good feeling about it! Ryan told me to buy some tickets yesterday so off I went to the gas station and proceeded to hand the guy my debit card when he stops me and says “it’s cash only.” That just shows you how often I buy these things. And then it dawned on me, you can’t use cards because people would get a little crazy with the ticket purchasing. DUH! Can you imagine how your life would change if you won something like that? I did hear that one of the winners was from North Carolina near Wilmington. So close… yet so far!
3 // 50 Shades of Grey… tonight!!
Y’all. I could not be more excited for this movie. Yes, it might be cheesy and no, the actors weren’t my first choice, but I don’t care. What better way to spend Valentine’s eve than with some of my besties watching this crazy hot romance? I read the books when they first came out and had plans to reread the first one over Christmas break… but then this thing called wedding planning took over. Are any of y’all going to see it? This movie has had so much anticipation so let’s hope it doesn’t disappoint. Can’t wait to discuss on Monday!

4 // Missing my boo
Ryan gets back from England tomorrow (cue my happy dance) and I can’t wait for our first V-Day as an engaged couple! Luckily he’s had better wifi service than he did when he was in Paris so we’ve got to FaceTime most nights this week. I know we have dinner plans on Saturday, but he always likes to keep it a surprise and this girl lovesss surprises. And I was also greeted with these lovely goodies when I got home yesterday. I mean, don’t you love that wrap job?
Yes, sometimes I stalk him on Find My Friends. Total creeper.

It’s officially February and Valentine’s Day is right around the corner. I know some people may think it’s a “cheesy” holiday but I’ve always enjoyed celebrating. Whether it was eating a whole bag of conversation hearts by myself or going out for a “single girls” dinner, any holiday is okay in my book. And of course, it’s even better now that I have a super sweet fiancé to spend it with! He actually gets back from England that day so I know we’re going to dinner somewhere, but he always likes to keep it a surprise. Here are some of my ultra-girly picks for a fun Valentine’s date night if you’re feeling fancy!
This dress from Chicwish is has lace, peplum, and it’s pink… what’s not to love? And the long sleeves are great because we all know it’s still quite chilly in February. I love all of the Marc Jacobs scents and the best thing is that they all come in rollerballs that can easily fit into your clutch.
That cute little rose up there is actually a pair of rolled-up Hanky Pankies. If you haven’t tried them, they are the most comfortable undies ever! Kate Spade is definitely a top-pick for fun, girly accessories and this hot pink heart watch is no exception.
Sometimes the accessories really make the outfit and these fancy glitter pumps and Kendra Scott earrings. And how adorable is this white fur clutch? The best part is it’s under $25!
