Porter James | 6 Months

Our little Porter James is 6 months old!! Halfway to one and I just can’t believe it. I literally feel like I just brought him home from the hospital and time has really flown, but I’m trying to make sure I savor each and every day with him. He is the happiest baby and today I’m sharing a quick recap of the past month!

Weight

We just had Porter’s 6 month pediatrician visit yesterday and he weighs 14 lbs. 13 oz. He is still a little guy but growing very proportionally so that’s good news! He’s wearing mostly 3-6 month clothes.

Likes

Porter loves all his teether toys, sticking everything in his mouth and drooling all over the place. He’s also a huge fan of his ABC crinkle book and when daddy tickles his tummy! He started rolling last month but now he is all over the place- as soon as I put him down on his back in the crib, he immediately rolls to his stomach. 

Dislikes

He doesn’t really like being thrown up in the air- I tried it one day and he wasn’t a huge fan.

Eating

Last week we started baby food! We did a week of oatmeal cereal and just started stage 1 purees yesterday. He loved the pears and it’s been fun to watch him experience food and learn how to eat from a spoon. He can also hold his own bottle (when he feels like it) and is now on formula. We completely weaned from breastfeeding last week and it was bittersweet but so thankful we got to experience it for this long!

Sleeping

His sleep habits haven’t really changed… still sleeping like a rock! This week we did finally adjust his schedule at cut out a nap and also spaced out his feedings to every 4 hours. I’m so thankful that this boy likes to sleep but we’re also approaching the time when he might start teething so I’m prepared for that to shake things up… hopefully not too much though!

Milestones

Porter went on his first overnight weekend trip to Raleigh. It was so good to see a few of our friends and he got to meet a few new faces. We finally got to put his travel crib to use and veer off his daily schedule and he did great! We also celebrated Ryan’s birthday and they got to wear their first matching outfits- flamingo swim trunks!

Porter has also started to sit up- still a little wobbly and has to tripod with his hands but we are so proud of him! He has also started baby food and is now riding in his big boy stroller, no more bassinet.
