So excited for today’s post! My little Porter just turned one and we had a hole-in-one themed birthday party for him! I think I’ve had this party planned since the day he was born, his dad loves golf so it was a no-brainer. It was THE best day and a big thank you to Emma Loo Photography for capturing these amazing photos that I will cherish forever. I have lots of fun photos to share, tips on how to throw your own golf-themed party and all sources are listed at the bottom!
I’m not going to lie, I’m a little “extra” when it comes to parties and the first birthday is such a big milestone so I wanted to do it right. The first thing I planned was the cake- I knew I wanted a golf themed cake for the guests and a golf ball smash cake for Porter. We used Wow Factor Cakes in Charlotte and they knocked it out of the park (as we knew they would since they also made our wedding cake). We kept our dessert simple but other fun ideas would be decorated sugar cookies or golf ball cake pops.
We also kept all our snacks golf-themed. We had pimento cheese sandwiches (a Master’s classic), “birdies” (Chick-Fil-A nuggets), “chip shots” (potato chips), and “fairway fruit salad” made of fresh strawberries, kiwi, pineapple and blueberries. We had Arnold Palmers to drink and even some John Daly’s off to the side for the adults!
I got the cutest banners from Funstacraft on Etsy- highly recommend! A high chair banner is a must-have for any first birthday and we also displayed his monthly milestone photos on our fireplace mantel. To add some more golf-themed decor I place golf tees and balls in a glass container with paper “grass”. We also added a few Master’s items like Ryan’s hat and spectator guide.
We had such a great time at Porter’s par-tee, it was a gorgeous sunny day and we loved getting to celebrate with family & friends. Not every party will be like this one, but we will always treasure the memories from his first birthday!

Hi! Love this so much. I’m going to create for my son in July. How did you write Titleist on the paper lanterns? Thank you!
