Arrghh!! Today I’m sharing all the details from Porter’s pirate party. We recently celebrated his 4th birthday and I still can’t believe he’s getting so big! He is all about pirates now (we were even a pirate family last Halloween!) so this theme was a no brainer. Sharing a few photos and sources to the decor in today’s post!
Pirate themed birthday party
This year we kept the party super small and boys-only (with the addition of a little mermaid) but that didn’t mean I was skimping on decor. Meri Meri has always been a favorite for decor and paper goods- they have the cutest things without being tacky or cheesy. Our plates, parrot napkins, pirate ship cups and cupcake toppers were all Meri Meri. We kept the snacks simple with pastries, mini donuts, fruit and of course… pirate’s booty!
I found this giant cardboard pirate ship online and knew it would be perfect for the party, not only as decor but also for the kids to play in. And yes, I hand colored this ship! It took me a few nights and several markers but so happy with how it turned out.
At first I wasn’t going to have any entertainment but we ended up using a local balloon twister/magician to make balloon animals (and swords!) for the kids. He was so great with them and even ended with a magic trick for all the adults. We also had felt pirate hats, eye patches and pirate temporary tattoos for the kids.
