At-Home Teeth Whitening: Smile Brilliant Review

As the holidays are approaching, we all want to look our best for office parties, family get-togethers, and of course all the photos that will be taken at those events. And as cheesy as it may sound, a smile really is your best accessory. I love coffee and wine as much as the next girl but over time those two very delicious things can wreak havoc on the color of our teeth. Over the years I’ve tried several whitening methods and was eager to test out the at-home system from Smile Brilliant. Today I’m sharing my experience, how the system works, and also a chance to win your own kit! 

When I was introduced to Smile Brilliant, I was super excited because we all want white teeth, right?! I usually get whitening strips every few months from my dentist (that cost $80 for 5 applications) and have been contemplating getting custom trays. While I know they are more cost effective in the long run, the initial investment of $400+ wasn’t ideal… especially when I’ve had a few cavities to pay for. Ugh.

Enter Smile Brilliant. This is a new way to get custom-made whitening trays delivered straight to your home. No dentist visit required! Here’s how it works:

The first thing you receive is your impression kit which contains two plastic trays, base paste & catalyst paste, and syringes of your whitening and de-sensitizing gel. After brushing and drying your teeth to your best ability, you mix the two pastes together which will make the mold for your impression. They also include an extra set in case you mess up the first time, which I totally did. Don’t judge.


After making your impressions (one at a time), you simply ship the molds back to the company and wait for your custom trays to be delivered. The process only took about a week and then I had my very own custom trays that fit my teeth perfectly! Here are a few reasons why I prefer whitening trays over strips:
 
                              • Better fit = better whitening
                              • You can actually talk while wearing them
                              • Multiple uses out of whitening gel syringes
                              • Desensitizing gel helps prevent sensitivity and re-staining
                              • Stronger whitening than regular strips 

My teeth have always been pretty white, but sometimes when I wear certain lipsticks I notice they could be a little whiter. You can check out my before & after after photos after whitening for one week (with two days off). I wore my trays anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour and followed with the de-sensitizing gel for 15 minutes.
 
Ps. You might also notice that my teeth aren’t the only thing that’s whiter in the second photo- the before photo was taken right after my friend’s wedding when I had a spray tan so that’s why I have two different skin tones!

I was honestly very pleased with this system and it couldn’t have come at a better time. They trays are way more comfortable than strips and also way less expensive than the alternative from the dentist. Also, thanks to the de-sensitizing gel, my teeth haven’t been sensitive to cold drinks like they sometimes tend to be. And after looking at that before & after, I’m so glad I whitened!     Ahh I'm so intrigued by this! I use the Crest White Strips and while they work, they KILL my teeth! So much so that it's almost not worth it to me. This looks amazing and the results are obvious!

    Your results are awesome!! I am currently doing Invisalign but I'll be doing Smile Brilliant as soon as that's over – hopefully by this time next year I'll have straighter AND whiter teeth!! 🙂
