After rushing back from Charleston last Saturday (I didn’t speed, I promise!) I had to frantically do something with this hair and get ready for my friend Ashton’s wedding. Like in 30 minutes- holy stressed out!! Like any girl, the weeks prior to the event I was stressing over what to wear. After searching some boutiques and online shops, I knew I didn’t want to shell out a ton of $$$ for a dress I’d only wear once or twice so I went to my trusty friend, Rent the Runway.

While renting still isn’t cheap by any means, it’s definitely more cost effective than buying a super nice but fancy dress that you’ll more than likely only wear once. I rented my first dress for a wedding last year (actually this same exact weekend) and loved the ease and convenience of renting.


Here’s the quick & dirty of renting with RTR

  • You can rent for either 4 or 8 days
  • You get a free backup size
  • It’s recommended you rent 1-2 days before your event in case nothing fits so RTR can overnight you another option
  • After the event, you zip up your dresses in the bag and drop it off at any UPS box

For this August wedding, I wanted something a little different so I went with this Monique Lhuillier ‘Sunshine Day Gown.’ This baby retails for $698 (woof!) but was way under $100 to rent. I definitely felt like Belle in this dress- they yellow is an unexpected color and I love that it had pockets! Since it was a 6pm wedding but not black tie, I kept things simple with nude sandals and minimal jewelry. To dress it up even more, you could add pointy toe pumps and a fun statement necklace with an undo.

When renting this time around, I decided to get the PRO membership. For $30/year, you get free shipping and insurance (usually $15 per order) as well as 20% off all orders. So basically, you just need to rent twice to break even and I think it’s totally worth it!

So that’s two weddings down and only one more to go this year! One of my best friends, Logan, is getting married in October and this week I have been working on addressing her invitations. I’m so glad I picked up calligraphy and even though it makes my hand cramp up sometimes, I love the end result!

    I'm so interested in calligraphy. Love that you're helping her with her invites. Rent the Runway is awesome. My closest is limited on space as it is, so I love the convince of being able to rent things. Loved the Belle look. So fun and pretty for summer!
