Happy Monday! I hope all of you had a super fabulous weekend, I know I did! It’s been extra cold here in Charlotte and the word is that we’re getting snow/ice in the next few days. I’ll be heading back to Raleigh today and while I don’t have that much school to miss, it would be fun to be snowed in at least once this year, right? Here’s a little look into this past weekend:
Friday I got a hair cut (it’s pretty short y’all) and met with the caterer to look at some linens. That night I finished crafting up Ryan’s man bouquet and then my girlfriends and I headed to the movies to see 50 Shades of Grey. I gotta say I enjoyed it- the movie followed the book very closely and I thought Dakota Johnson did a great job, however Jamie Dornan’s acting could have been a little bit better if you ask me. I hadn’t read the books since they came out and totally forgot how it ended so needless to say it’s a cliffhanger! Ps. the soundtrack is pretty amazing too- obsessed with the new Ellie Goulding song!
Ps. The donut food truck outside the movie theater was the cherry on top!
Saturday was spent running to Target (our pantry was like a barren wasteland), cleaning up the condo, and working on my paper… well, reading articles for my paper. I was so excited when Ryan finally got home from London that afternoon and I’m glad that he was still up for a fun date night!! We exchanged our gifts and I have to say that Ryan got pretty witty this year. I told him I didn’t really need much for V-Day so he told me he was going to wrap boxes of hugs. And that’s exactly what I got… see that box of chocolate Hugs? Veryyyyy clever.
We had dinner reservations at Pisces, a yummy sushi place in Midtown. We decided to get crazy and order the “love boat” and also enjoyed the live music they had going on- think today’s hits and throwbacks slowed down with a Robin Thick-esque voice. He was pretty awesome! Ryan loved his “heart wall” full of things I love about him and his man bouquet which happened to have a not-so-manly pink bow and was filled with lots of random goodies.
Sunday was all about sleeping in, getting in a good workout, and then heading to Cantina 1511 to celebrate my friend Logan’s birthday! It was a quadruple date night and a good time, as always. And no Mexican dinner is complete without margs and tres leches, right?
Please tell me y’all watched the SNL 40th Anniversary Special last night!! JT and Jimmy Fallon killed it, I mean, who better to open the show? I loved how they recreated a lot of the sketches and threw in some celebrities for fun. One of my favorites was The Californians with Bradley Cooper. We only watched the first half because we were late coming back from dinner, but excited to finish it today! Hope y’all have a great Monday… stay warm!

You did such a great job on the man bouquet – love it!!! I totally agree with you on the movie, I thought Dakota was really good and as good looking as Jamie is, he could have been better and yes the soundtrack was amazing!!! Oh sushi – as much as we eat it, we've never ordered a boat, maybe this week lol!! xo, Biana – BlovedBoston

I'm loving the shorter hair! It looks great. The Ellie Goulding song from the movie has been on repeat for me for weeks and I'm still obsessed with it. Hope you get a little bit of snow in Raleigh (and no ice)!

I do really hope we get a little bit of snow! I'm totally ready for spring, but it'd be nice to get just a smidge of snow first! Your Vday weekend sounds so lovely–and you killed it on the man bouquet! Love that idea!

In LOVE with that skirt — I definitely need it! And I did a man bouquet for Stephen, too, complete with Starbucks, candy and liquor! But it just hit me that I forgot to take a picture of it — I worked hard on that thing too! Fail. Oh well — next time!

I got to catch most of the SNL special last night and I agree, JT and Jimmy opening was awesome! There were some really great parts and some that were just ok and not as funny as I think they wanted it to be. Either way, it was pretty cool! Love your man bouquet! so creative! Have a great week!
