It’s been a great week here at Buies Creek! Ryan is currently napping beside me… two weeks have gone by since I moved and it has been SO great to spend this weekend together!
Week 2 of classes is done… not stressing yet. We had some serious anatomy this week, two classes and two labs. Let me just say I already feel 10 times smarter than I did two weeks ago. We have to know so much in such a short time, but we all help each other and it’s not so bad. On Wednesday we got to open up our cadavers! I won’t get too graphic on you, but it was so cool to see inside the human body. Some highlights were cutting into the ribs with a power saw (not gonna lie, I was a little scared) and holding a lung. Each week we will learn about a different body system. We also had our first History & Physical lab and right now we’re going over taking histories and vital signs.
My roomies & I had our first “family dinner” this week… taco Tuesday. Sarah makes me coffee every morning (because I don’t know how) and Jeff whipped out his baking skills this week and made us a homemade cheesecake. Trust me when I say they are pretty much amazing.
Yesterday was a special day that we had all been looking forward to for a while… our white coat ceremony! This marks the transition from us being pre-professional students to starting our professional education and career. Friends and family came from all over to support our class of 44. Getting this white coat makes it official and I am so thankful and grateful to be here. Each one of us worked so hard to get to where we are now and I can’t wait to have some great experiences with this group!
